যখন কোন বাক্যে দুটি কাজ প্রায় একই সময়ে ঘটেছে বোঝানো হয়, তখন ‘No sooner…than’ এবং ‘Scarcely/hardly…when ‘ বসিয়ে দুটি clause কে যুক্ত করে বাক্যটির রুপান্তর করা হয়। As soon as দিয়ে দুটি clause কে যুক্ত করলেও একই জিনিস বোঝান হয়।
উদাহরণঃ
As soon as he sensed danger, he fled.
Ans. No sooner did he sense danger than he fled.
এক্ষেত্রে বাক্যের গঠন হয়-
No sooner + auxiliary verb + subject + main verb + other words (if any) + than + the rest of the sentence.
মনে রাখতে হবে যদি কোন auxiliary verb বাক্যে থাকে তাহলে সেটিই বাক্যে ব্যবহার করতে হবে।
When he was presented with the trophy,he started crying.
Ans. No sooner was he presented with the trophy than he started crying.
As soon as they had finished the project, they went out for a stroll.
Ans: No sooner had they finished the project than they went out for a stroll.
যদি কোন auxiliary না থাকে তাহলে do / does/ did (‘do / does’ present tense এর ক্ষেত্রে এবং ‘did’ past tense এর ক্ষেত্রে ) ব্যবহার করতে হবে।
উদাহরণঃ
As soon as the rain came , the seeds began to sprout.
Ans. No sooner did the rain came than the seeds began to sprout.
As soon as the bell rings, the children rush into their classrooms.
Answer : No sooner does the bell ring than the children rush into their classrooms.
একই ভাবে যখন কোন বাক্যে দুটি কাজ প্রায় একই সময়ে ঘটেছে বোঝানো হয়, তখন ‘Scarcely/hardly…when ‘ বসিয়েও দুটি clause কে যুক্ত করে বাক্যটির রুপান্তর করা হয়।
As soon as I solved the problem another cropped up.
Hardly had I solved the problem when another cropped up.
As soon as I reached the station,the train left.
Scarcely had I reached the station when the train left.
এক্ষেত্রে বাক্যের গঠন –
Hardly/scarcely + auxiliary verb + subject + main verb + other words (if any) + when + the rest of the sentence.
