Leela clapped her hands and screamed in wonder,

“The moon here! It was there! How is it?”
“এখানে চাঁদ! এটা তো সেখানে ছিল! এটা কেমন করে হল?”
“I have asked it to follow us about.”
” আমি চাঁদকে আমাদের পিছু পিছু আসতে বলেছি।”
Leela ran in and told her mother, “Sidda knows the moon.”
লীলা দৌড়ে গেল এবং তার মাকে বলল, “সিদ্ধা চাঁদকে চেনে।”
At dusk he carried her in and she held a class for him.
গোধূলি বেলায় সেব তাকে বাড়ির ভিতরে নিয়ে যায় এবং সে (লীলা) তার জন্য একটি ক্লাসের আয়োজন করে।
She had a box filled with catalogues, illustrated books and stumps of pencils.
ক্যাটালগস(চার্ট), সচিত্র বই এবং পেন্সিলের স্টাম্পে ভরা তার একটি বাক্স ছিল।
It gave her great joy to play the teacher to Sidda.
সিদ্ধার শিক্ষিকার চরিত্রে অভিনয় তাকে(লীলা) দুর্দান্ত আনন্দ দিত।
She made him squat on the floor with a pencil between his fingers and a catalogue in front of him.
সে তাকে মেঝেতে উবু করে বসিয়ে তার আঙুলের ফাঁকে একটি পেন্সিল ও তার সামনে একটি চার্ট রাখতো।
She had another pencil and a catalogue and commanded, “Now write.”
তার কাছে আরেকটি পেন্সিল ও চার্ট থাকতো এবং আদেশ করতো, ” এবার লেখ।”
And he had to try and copy whatever she wrote in the pages of her catalogue.
এবং লীলা যা তার চার্টের পাতায় লিখতো, তাই সিদ্ধাকে চেষ্টা করতে হত এবং অনুকরণ করতে হত।
She knew two or three letters of the alphabet and could draw a kind of cat and crow.

But none of these could Sidda even remotely copy.

She said, examining his effort “Is this how I have drawn the crow?
সে তার(সিদ্ধা) প্রচেষ্টা পরীক্ষা করে বলত, “আমি কি এইভাবে কাকটা এঁকেছি?
Is this how I have drawn the B?”
আমি কি এইভাবে B কে এঁকেছি?”
She pitied him, and redoubled her efforts to teach him.
সে তাকে দয়া করত, এবং তাকে শেখানোর প্রচেষ্টা দ্বিগুণ করত।
But that good fellow, though an adept at controlling the moon, was utterly incapable of plying the pencil.

He sought relief by saying, “I think your mother is calling you in to dinner.”

Leela would drop the pencil and run out of the room, and the school hour would end.
লীলা পেন্সিল ফেলে দিত এবং ঘর থেকে দৌড়ে বেরিয়ে যেত, আর স্কুলের সময় শেষ হত।
After dinner Leela ran to her bed.
রাতের খাবারের পরে লীলা বিছানায় ছুটত।
Sidda had to be ready with a story.
সিদ্ধাকে একটি গল্প নিয়ে প্রস্তুত থাকতে হত।
He sat down on the floor near the bed and told incomparable stories of animals in the jungle, of gods in heaven, of magicians who could conjure up golden castles and fill them with little princesses and their pets ….
সে বিছানার কাছে মেঝেতে বসে পড়ত এবং জঙ্গলের প্রাণী, স্বর্গের দেবদেবীদের, যাদুকরদের অতুলনীয় গল্প শোনাতেন যারা জাদুবলে সোনার দুর্গের আবির্ভাব ঘটাতে পারেন এবং ছোট ছোট রাজকন্যা এবং তাদের পোষা প্রাণী দিয়ে সেগুলি ভরিয়ে দিতে পারেন।
Day by day she clung closer to him.
দিনের পর দিন সে তার (সিদ্ধার) আরও ঘনিষ্ঠ হল।
She insisted upon having his company all her waking hours.
সে যতক্ষণ জেগে থাকত তার সাহচর্যের জন্য দাবি করতে লাগল।
She was at his side when he was working in the garden or chopping wood, and accompanied him when he was sent on errands.
যখন সে বাগানে কাজ করত বা কাঠ কাটত তখন সে তাঁর পাশে থাকতো এবং যখন তাকে(সিদ্দা) কারো হয়ে কোনো কিছু দিতে বা আনতে বলা হত, তখন সে তাকে সঙ্গ দিত।
One evening he went out to buy sugar and Leela went with him.
এক সন্ধ্যায় সে চিনি কিনতে বাইরে গেল এবং লীলা তার সাথে গেল।
When they came home, Leela’s mother noticed that a gold chain Leela had been wearing was missing.
যখন তারা বাড়িতে এল, লীলার মা লক্ষ্য করলেন যে লীলা যে সোনার মালাটি পড়েছিল সেটি নেই।
“Where is your chain?”
“তোমার মালাটি কোথায়?”
Leela looked into her shirt, searched and said, “I don’t know.”
“লীলা তার জামায় দেখল, খোঁজাখুঁজি করে বলল, “আমি জানি না।”
Her mother gave her a slap and said,
তার মা তাকে একটি চড় মারলেন এবং বললেন,
“How many times have I told you to take it off and put it in the box?”
“আমি তোমাকে কতবার বলেছি এটি খুলে ফেলতে এবং তা বাক্সে রাখতে?”
