“Here, Tom! Tom! What’s the matter, Tom?” Sid shook him and looked in his face anxiously.
“এখানে, টম! টম! কি ব্যাপার, টম?” সিড তাকে নাড়াচাড়া করল এবং উদ্বিগ্নভাবে তার মুখের দিকে তাকাল।
Tom moaned out: “Oh, don’t, Sid. Don’t shake me.”

“Why, what’s the matter, Tom? I must call auntie.”

“But I must! Don’t groan so, Tom, it’s awful. How long have you been this way?”

“Hours. Ouch! Oh, don’t stir so, Sid. You’ll kill me.”

“Tom, why didn’t you wake me sooner? Oh, Tom you aren’t dying, are you? Don’t Tom, oh don’t.”
“টম, তুমি আমাকে তাড়াতাড়ি জাগও নি কেন? ওহ, টম তুমি মরে যাচ্ছ না, তুমি কি? টম না, ওহ না।”
“I forgive everybody, Sid. Tell them so.”
“আমি সবাইকে ক্ষমা করছি, সিড। তাদের তাই বল।”
Sid had rushed to call help.

Tom’s imagination was working perfectly by now and his groans had gathered a genuine tone.

Meanwhile, Sid flew downstairs and said: “Oh, aunt Polly, come! Tom’s dying!”

She flew upstairs with Sid and Mary, Tom’s cousin.

Her face grew pale and her lips trembled.

When she reached the bedside, she gasped out:

Tom felt a little foolish and said, “Aunt Polly, how my toothaches! The pain is more than that in my toe.”
টম খানিকটা বোকামি বোধ করল এবং বলল, “অ্যান্টি পলি, আমার দাঁতে কী ব্যথা! আমার পায়ের আঙুলের চেয়ে বেশি ব্যথা।
“Your tooth, indeed! What’s the matter with your tooth?”
“তোমার দাঁত, সত্যিই! তোমার দাঁতে কী হয়েছে?”
“One of them is loose and it aches awfully.”

“There, there, now don’t begin that groaning again. Open your mouth.

Your tooth is loose but you’re not going to die for that.

Mary, get me a silk thread.” Tom said: “Oh, please auntie, don’t pull it out. It doesn’t hurt anymore. Please, auntie, I don’t want to stay home from school.”

“So all this was because you wanted to stay home from school and go fishing?

Tom, Tom, I love you so much and you try to break my heart in every way with your naughtiness!”
“ টম, টম, আমি তোমাকে এত ভালবাসি আর তুমি তোমার দুষ্টুমি দিয়ে আমার হৃদয়কে প্রতিটি উপায়ে ভেঙে দেওয়ার চেষ্টা কর! “
By this time the dental instrument was ready.

The old lady fastened one end of the silk thread to Tom’ tooth and the other end to the bed-post.
বৃদ্ধা রেশম সুতোর এক প্রান্ত টমের দাঁতে এবং অন্য প্রান্তটি খাটের পায়ার সাথে বাঁধলেন।
She pulled and the tooth hung dangling by the bedpost.
তিনি টানলেন এবং দাঁতটি খাটের পায়ার সাথে দোলায়মান ভাবে ঝুলতে লাগল।
Tom now had a gap in his upper row of teeth.
টমের এখন দাঁতগুলির উপরের সারিতে একটি ফাঁক তৈরি হল।
This enabled him to smile in a new and admirable way.
